Bertha Marie Buchanan

Bertha Marie Buchanan, known affectionately as Marie to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2025, at the Red River Valley Lodge in Morris, Manitoba at the age of 83.
Marie is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Hugh, who stood by her side through life’s many chapters. She was a beloved mother to her daughter Cheryl Cathers and her son Ronald, who is married to Debbie. Her grandchildren, Erin, Matthew (Carmen), Nicholas, and David, will miss her deeply, as will her great-grandchildren, Emma and Grace, who brought her immense joy in her later years. Marie’s sister, Mildred Ann (Grant), will fondly remember her as a pillar of strength and love in their family.
Marie was predeceased by one son Kevin, sister Etta May Deacon, and son-in-law Wayne (Cheryl).
Marie dedicated her life to the well-being of others, serving as a compassionate nurse and health care aide. Her career was a testament to her loving nature, as she provided comfort and support to countless individuals over the years.
Marie’s creativity shone brightly in her personal life through her many hours spent sewing, a skill she honed with precision and passion. Her gardens were a splash of color that brought joy to all who saw them, and her love for flowers was evident in the care she took to nurture each plant. Music and dancing were sources of great happiness for Marie. Camping with family and friends was one of Marie’s treasured activities, where she created lasting memories surrounded by friends and family.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at the Morris United Church at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at the Warren Cemetery.
