Obituary of Bertha Eileen Turner
Bertha (Foster) Turner, 90, passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on February 10, 2025. Born in Aylesford on March 13, 1934, she was the daughter of the late, John and Stella (Hiltz) Foster.
Bertha was a farmer’s daughter; it showed in her love for her gardens, she grew up helping to pick strawberries on her family farm and could make the most delicious strawberry shortcake. She was well known for her home-made pickles and baked goods. Bertha had a noble heart and loved her family dearly she treasured the time she spent with her loved ones and was always able to find enjoyment in any situation.
Bertha is survived by her son, Edward (George) Turner of Toronto; daughter, Crystal (Troy) Gehue of Aylesford; grandson, Michael Nicholson; sister, Jenny “Bun” Trask; sister-in-law’s, Maryanne Turner, Muriel Turner and Margaret Foster; two step grandchildren, Gwen and Ivy as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Bertha was predeceased by her loving husband, Edgar Turner (1985); sister, Joyce; brother’s, Richard “Dick” and Clifford; as well as multiple in-law’s.
A visitation will take place on Friday February 14, 2025, at 6:00pm-8:30pm in the Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Drive, Coldbrook, NS. A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday February 16, 2025, at 11:00am in the Serenity Funeral Home Chapel, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Drive, Coldbrook, NS. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Drive, Coldbrook, NS B4R 1B9 (902) 679-2822.
