Olive Bernice Wiseman-Poffley (née Rose) passed away at the John M. Parrott Centre in Napanee with her loving family at her side on Saturday, February 1, 2025, in her 86th year. Bernice was born in Salmon Cove, Newfoundland. She graduated from Nursing School in 1959 and began working in Newfoundland and across the east coast until moving to Ontario where she settled to raise her children and continue nursing at the Kingston General Hospital. Bernice was very proud of her Newfoundland heritage, her career and her family. She loved the outdoors, bird watching, traveling and hiking the wilderness trails.
Lovingly remembered by her devoted husband Richard Poffley and children Angela Wiseman, Jeffrey Wiseman (Wendy), Grace Wiseman (Darrell), Sarah Wiseman (Emily), Patricia Poffley-Mooney (Charles) and Robert Poffley (Susan). Also greatly missed by her grandchildren Alexandra, Rachel, Owen, Matthew, Chelsea, William, Sydney, Kyle and Emily, and great grandchildren Blake, Mason, Kayson and Aria. Survived by her brother Warren (Isabel) and sisters Phyllis (Lloyd) and Marie (late Joe). Predeceased by her parents Alfred and Mary Ann Rose, her brother Berkley (late Wilma) and sisters Daphne (late Ed) and Hilda (late Sandy). Remembered by several nieces and nephews and their families.
A private family Service was held at Payne Funeral Home, 178 Main St., Odessa on Friday, February 7, 2025. Interment followed at Cataraqui Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. For those desiring, memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.
