It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bernhard “Ben” Wiebe, a beloved husband, father, grandpa and Opa, who left this world on December 17, 2024, at the age of 85 into the arms of his loving saviour. Born on October 21, 1939, in the rural municipality of Morris, Ben was the cherished son of Peter and Susan Wiebe. His life was a testament to hard work, devotion, and unwavering love for his family.
Ben’s journey through life was marked by his marriage to the love of his life, Lucille, on June 22, 1963, in Morris, MB. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter and yes, some struggles. Ben was not just a husband; he was a partner in every sense of the word, always supporting Lucille in her endeavors and cherishing the life they created together.
His dedication to family was evident in every aspect of his life. As a proud father of four daughters—Teresa (Dennis) Rempel, Kimberly (Micheal) Brooker, Karen (Micheal) Ketler, and Sherry (Kevin) Harder—Ben embraced the joys and challenges of being a “girl dad.” In a household filled with strong women, he was the gentle patriarch, instilling in them the values of hard work and perseverance. He often remarked with a warm smile that when asked who his favorite girl was, his answer was always my beautiful wife.
Ben was also a devoted grandpa, taking immense pride in his grandchildren: Breanne (Jonathan), Matthew, Caleb (Holly), Josh (Alana), Luke, Connor (Amy), and Ladawn (Braedon). He was the best Opa to Everly, Benson,Rhett, Levi, Willa, Wren and Dane. He relished spending time with them, taking genuine interest in their lives and accomplishments, always encouraging them to pursue their dreams with passion and determination.
Throughout his life, Ben worked diligently in various roles, including his time at the Lowe Farm CO-OP, as well as in construction, Enns Brother’s and farming. Farming was not just his livelihood; it was a lifelong passion that brought him joy and a sense of fulfillment. After retiring, his love for the land continued as he found solace and satisfaction in yard work and reading, always eager to learn and grow.
Ben’s faith was a cornerstone of his life. He held a quiet but strong belief in his Lord and Savior, which guided him through both the joys and trials of life. His faith was not just personal but was reflected in his interactions with others, as he offered kindness and support to those in need.
A private family celebration of life will be held in Lowe Farm, MB honoring Ben’s wishes for an intimate farewell. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and faith, as well as countless memories for those who had the privilege to know him. His absence will be felt deeply by his family and friends, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
As we say goodbye, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to his family. He will always be remembered as the most amazing husband, dad, grandpa, and Opa, whose legacy of hard work and devotion will continue to inspire generations to come. Rest in peace, your love and spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6
