1938-2025
Tanner, Bernard Kenneth “Bucky”, 87, South
Farmington, formerly of Halifax, passed away January 18, 2025, at
Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville.
Born in Halifax January 11, 1938, he was the son of the late
Ernest and Elizabeth (Vaters) Tanner. Starting work at 16, he spent
his entire working career at the Chronicle Herald retiring after over
40 years. Bucky loved a good game of cards with friends and family. In
addition to cards, Bucky enjoyed bowling and was a member of The
Halifax Herald Bowling League until it disbanded. He also enjoyed
watching his Habs play hockey.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice (Hanratty); daughter,
Dorothy (Gordon) Raniere of Harrietsfield; son, Kenneth (Karen
Fegarty) of Waverley; grandchildren, Michelle, Matthew, and Madeline;
great grandchildren, Natalee, Owen and Aaron; siblings, Gerald
(Sheena), Betty Rice, Helen (David) Udle, Linda Pottie, and Marilyn
MacEachern.
He was predeceased by brothers, Ernest Jr., William, Douglas;
sisters, Patricia Fougere and Susan (Wayne) Leslie.
Bucky had a lifelong love of animals (especially his
companion Angus), donations can be made in his name to the SPCA or the
Canadian Wildlife Federation.
In respect of Bernard’s wishes, cremation has taken
place and there will be no visitation or service.

Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. Online
