Bernard Gunn
1934-2025
Bernard Gunn, 90, of Coldbrook, passed away peacefully at
Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville, on Friday, February 28,
2025. Born in Scotland, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary
(Baillie) Gunn.
Bernard was raised in Scotland and was a member of the R.A.F.
He later obtained his nursing degree, specializing in psychiatric
nursing. He loved the outdoors, enjoyed tackling DIY projects, playing
golf, soccer and coaching a women’s soccer team. He had a
passion for long distance running and participated in many marathons
and half marathons. He loved the Leafs and the Blue Jays. Most of all,
he loved his family. He was very involved in the Catholic Church and
Eucharistic Ministry. He was also a member of the Knights of
Columbus.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia “Pat”
(Dennison); children, Elizabeth Anne, Matthew (Amber), and Margaret;
stepchildren, Lynda (Jeff) and David (Deidre); nine grandchildren; 3
great grandchildren.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude and
appreciation to the staff at Evergreen Home of Special Care for their
wonderful care and dedication, as well as to Dennis and Barbara Nash
for their love and support and numerous visits, which Dad
loved.
Cremation has taken place, and in keeping with
Bernard’s wishes there will be no visitation. The funeral
service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at St.
Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Kentville. A reception will
be held in the church hall immediately following the service.
Interment will take place in Lower Horton Cemetery. Donations in
memory may be made to Hope for Wildlife. Funeral arrangements have
been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation
