Bernadette Souaid Habib, 91, of Montreal, Quebec, passed peacefully on February 1st , 2025.
Born on April 29, 1933, in Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec, Bernie was the daughter of Joseph and Hafiza Souaid. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she volunteered at her church as a Sunday school teacher and worked for the National Film Board of Canada for many years.
Above all, Bernie was devoted to her children and remained very close with her siblings. She loved nothing more than caring and cooking for her children and grandchildren and will be fondly remembered and sadly missed for all the love she readily shared in so many ways.
Bernadette was predeceased by her beloved husband of 58 years, Albert K. Habib; her sister, Laurice Boojady (Raymond ); her brother-in-law, Gerry Habib (Jeanne); and her sister-in-law, Leona Assaly (George).
She is survived by her daughter, Kim (Jay Goldman); her daughter, Leslie; her son, Mark (Jeannette Doiron); her brother, Marcel (Pauline); and her brother, Norman (Edith). She was loving Nanny to Lauren Goldman (Owen Thomas); Dana Goldman; Jenna Habib ( Pablo Gandara); Kate Yafalian (Manuel Eggenberger); Ben Habib, and Lisa Yafalian; and a cherished great-grandmother to Emilia and Enzo. Bernie leaves behind many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Bernie’s caregivers for their compassionate care, kindness, and dedication. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. George Orthodox Church or to the Cedars Cancer Institute.
Visitation will take place at Urgel Bourgie, 1255 Avenue Beaumont, Mont-Royal, Québec on February 9, from 2 to 5 p.m., and on February 10, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by services at 12:15 p.m . Burial will take place at Mount Royal Cemetery at 3 p.m.
