Weiss, Beatrice Rebecca (née Horowitz)
Peacefully on Thursday, October 16, at the age of 96, surrounded by her loving family.
Beloved daughter of the late Louis and Fanny Horowitz. Dear sister of the late Aaron and Goldie Howard. Devoted mother to the late Eric (Julie) and Gilbert (Janine). Cherished grandmother to Ashley (Robin), Carly (Mike), Jordana (Crosby), Rachel (Jamie), and Jesse (Alex). Adored great-Bubbie to Harrison, Miriam, and Florence, and honorary Bubbie to Michael, Naomi, Louis, Theo, Ezra and Sam Howard, Anthony (Nikki), Stephen (Shyne), and Adrian. Beloved Aunt to Avi(Kohava), Noah(Naty), and Shelly.
Bea adored her “adopted family” the Sharpes, who cared for her as their own. She was deeply grateful for their love, kindness, and the joy they brought into her life.
Bea was fiercely independent and lived life on her own terms. She loved deeply and unconditionally – her family, and the many friends who became family. As the matriarch, she was the heart and anchor of the Weiss/Howard family.
A dedicated volunteer, Bea, gave over 35 years of service to the Bernard Betel Centre and Circle of Care, remaining active until the pandemic. In recent years, she made her home at Chartwell, where she continued to embrace life – enjoying exercise, walks, Yiddish concerts, and the friendships she so easily formed.
Bea will be remembered for her strength, wit, warmth, and unwavering love. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
