Obituary of Barry Anthony Hogg
Hogg: Barry Anthony
Obituary for Barry Anthony Hogg
1949 – 2025
A resident of Blenheim, Barry Anthony Hogg passed away peacefully at the Chatham-Kent Hospice on May 15, 2025, at the age of 75.
Born in England, Barry was the beloved son of the late Max and Stella (née Blann) Hogg.
Barry shared 55 wonderful years of marriage with his cherished wife Brenda (née Oakes). Together they built a life full of love, laughter, and devotion to family. He was a proud and loving father to Heather (Ken) Garton of Ridgetown, ON, and an adoring grandfather to Jordyn, Brianne, Jess, Nick, Abigail, and Connor. A special “grandpa” to all of the families’ beloved dogs.
Barry is survived by his brothers Ken (Mary) and Simon (Cindy), and remembered fondly by many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother Brian (Janet) and Adrian. He is also remembered by his extended family, including sisters and brothers-in-law: Linda (Brian), Harvey (Anne), Cathy and her late husband Harold, Tammy (Silver), Penny (Perry), and Dennis. Barry was predeceased by Donna, Becky (Dave), and Stan.
Barry will be deeply missed by his many golfing buddies at Ridgetown Golf Course, where he spent countless happy hours both before and after retirement. “You know who could chip this in, Bazil can”. His alter ego was always appearing on the green. Following his career in manufacturing, Barry found great fulfillment working for 15 years at the golf course, a place where he combined his passion for the game with his love of community.
Barry lived life with quiet joy and genuine passion. He was an accomplished and competitive bow hunter and shooter, proudly participating in events across Ontario and Michigan. He was also known for his meticulous lawn care, always taking pride in keeping his yard pristine, even if that meant cutting Brenda’s flowers from encroaching the lawn. A true enthusiast, Barry had a lifelong love for his cars, often enjoying conversations about the memories made, shows, and still going out just for a drive.
A self-taught computer enthusiast, Barry was a man of simple pleasures. Barry enjoyed video games, movies, scenic drives, a good breakfast, especially his cherished father-daughter breakfasts at Jack’s, and a dependable extra-large black Timmies coffee.
Barry will be remembered for his wit, warmth, and quiet strength, always calm, cool and collected. His presence will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
As per Barry’s wishes cremation has taken place and he has been reunited with the love of his life Brenda.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Barry’s memory to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation.
