Barry Warburton Maruk passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on May 1, 2025 in Cochrane, Alberta.
Barry was born on July 25, 1933, to Ivy Warburton in Norden, Rochdale, UK. In 1947, after World War II, he emigrated to Calgary, Alberta with his mother, where he met his wife Margaret Lillian (Luxford). They had two children, Stephen John Maruk and Richard Barry Warburton Maruk.
Barry was an ambitious and self-made man. His career included several roles, such as managing a commercial advertising department, being a technical advisor for an industrial engine manufacturer and creating his own printing and graphics industry business. He had a love of automobiles and motorcycles, photography, calligraphy and music, was proficient at several sports and enjoyed watching sporting events.
Barry is survived by his sons Stephen Maruk (Brenda) and Richard Maruk (Carolynn). As well as his grandchildren Angela Ferguson (Josh), David Maruk (Janine), Cole Maruk (Sarah Rae), Bryce Hooves (Mike) and Isabella Maruk. Barry also had two great-grandchildren, Lochlyn and Malcolm Ferguson.
Barry is preceded in passing by his mother, Ivy and his wife, Margaret.
Barry will be remembered by all who knew and loved him as a clever, creative, funny, adventurous and personable person. His sons Stephen and Richard will always remember his talents as a person and a mentor.
A private Celebration of Life will be held for immediate family members and friends in memory of his remarkable life.
