The passing of Barbara Louise Lawson, wife of Kenneth Lawson of Fredericton, NB, occurred on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at York Care Centre in Fredericton. Born on April 29, 1943 in Whites Cove, NB, she was the daughter of the late George and Neata (Urquhart) Gunter. Barbara enjoyed quilting, travelling and spending time at Grand Lake. She was a retired nurse (Victoria Public Hospital) and accountant.
In addition to her loving husband of 59 years, Barbara is survived by her daughters Stephanie Perry (Trevor), Rhonda Rushton (Derrick), Carolyn MacBain (John) and Jennifer Lawson (David Foord); grandchildren, Craig and Colin Rushton, Ewan, Ryan, and Kyle MacBain, Emma and Lily Murray; brother, John Gunter (Laureen); sister, Betty Dykeman; brother-in-law Charlie Connell, several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Mary Lou Connell and brother-in-law Bert Dykeman. The family appreciates the support of extended family and friends, in particular Dona and John King. We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at York Care Center, Tower 3 for their exceptional care of Barb during the past four years.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 from 10 am – 12 pm and will be followed by a Memorial Service at Nashwaaksis United Church, 46 Main Street, Fredericton, NB at 2 pm with Rev. Richard Bowley officiating. Interment will take place in Jemseg Cemetery, at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to York Care Foundation, the Alzheimer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
