With deep sadness, the family of Barbara Muriel Morash, announces her passing on February 14th, 2025, at the age of 90.
Barbara, born Dec. 30th, 1934, spent her entire life in her beloved community of Blue Rocks surrounded by family, lifelong friends and new friends who moved there to make this quaint village home. With the support of her family and a dedicated team of health professionals, her final wish was fulfilled to remain in her home until the end.
Barbara met the love of her life, Percival George Morash, an ambitious, kind-hearted young man and together, they shared 60 years of marriage. As Percy rose to the rank of captain, Barbara steered the ship at home with a steady hand. She was deeply grateful for a life surrounded by her children, her home and beautiful gardens, never wishing for anything more.
In addition to her children, Barbara was blessed with five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren with whom she shared a deep and loving connection. Through a family chat group on her iPad, she kept herself well informed of their many activities and adventures. Nanny’s endless questions, stories, and quiet love brought them great joy and comfort.
Many in the community will fondly remember Barbara tending to her garden, where she spent countless hours, finding peace, pride and pleasure. Though she was not one to seek out social circles, she and Percy over the years quietly offered support to families in need, especially young people who needed a compassionate and trusted ear. Barbara held a deep love for her church, St. Barnabas Anglican in Blue Rocks, where she was baptized, confirmed, married and finally laid to rest.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Capt. Percy Morash; brother, Byron Whynacht; sister, Marlene “Molly” Richardson and brother-in-law, George Richardson.
Barbara’s love will continue to live on in the lives of her children, Karla Morash, Blue Rocks; Wayne (Faye) Morash, Blue Rocks; Rena (Henry) Demone, Lunenburg; brother, Robert (Susan) Whynacht, Garden Lots; grandchildren, Tiffanie (Anuk) Demone/Karunaratne, St. Louis; Elliott Demone, Calgary; Andreas Demone, Halifax; Daniel (Tanya) Morash, Fredericton; Jeremy Morash (Ashleigh) Blue Rocks; great grandchildren, Madelyn, Ava, Maxime and Maya; her niece and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Dana. L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy 3, Lunenburg, on Friday, February 21st between 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm, to share memories of Barbara with family and friends. We will celebrate Barbara’s life at 3:00 pm on Saturday, February 22nd at St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Blue Rocks, Rev. Ian Wissler officiating.
