With deep love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Barbara (Sevisky) Lia, who left us on February 25th, 2025 at the age of 65 years. After a long and courageous battle with Syringomyelia. Throughout her journey, Barbara faced each challenge with grace, dignity, and a fierce determination to live life fully, despite the progressive increasing pain and increasing loss of mobility.
Barbara was a loving wife, devoted parent, and caring grandmother whose presence always brought joy and warmth to her beloved grandsons. In earlier times she had a strong passion for cooking and baking wonderful meals and delicious pastries. She used to love her hobbies of needlepoint, sewing and crafts. Barbara enjoyed camping and the outdoors, especially with Vanessa and her cousin Melissa in their younger years. Later in life she loved to travel with Marco and their close friends.
Barbara is survived by her husband Marco, daughter Vanessa (Darcy), grandsons Cameron and Blake, brother Barry Sevisky, sister Elaine (Mitch) Leblanc, step-father Phil Auger, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father John-Paul Sevisky (1966), her mother Rita Auger (2016), and her brother Robert Sevisky (2019). Barbara is also survived by her precious pets who she took great pleasure in caring for.
While Barbara’s absence leaves a profound void in our hearts, we find comfort in knowing she is now free from the physical pain that she endured with such courage. We will forever cherish the memories of Barbara’s love, kindness, and strength.
The family would like to thank the following who provided excellent care for Barbara over the years and also recently: Dr. M.V Ciccone and staff, Dr. T. Hopkins, Dr. D. Borrett, Dr. H. Smythe, Dr. C. Tator, Closing the Gap PSWs, Ashley, Allison, Brigitte, Gisele, Stacey, Veronique, and the staff at TADH Hospice.
In accordance with Barbara’s wishes there will be no visitation. A private service will be held for the immediate family in Barbara’s honour. Cremation and interment of ashes will take place at Timmins Memorial Cemetery Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Toronto Sick Children’s Hospital, or the Timmins District Humane Society. The funeral arrangements are entrusted with the MIRON-WILSON FUENRAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE, 150 Balsam St S., Timmins, ON.
“Rest in peace, Barbara. You will forever be loved and missed.”
