Obituary of Arlene Karen Wruth
The family of Arlene Wruth of Regina and formerly of Yorkton, sadly announce her passing on February 20, 2025. Arlene was 73 years of age.
A celebration of Arlene’s life will be held on Wednesday, March 5 at 11:00 a.m from Harmony United Church, 177 Sunset Dr., Regina, SK.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Canadian Red Cross or to the Canadian Cancer Society as gifts of remembrance.
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Arlene Karen Wruth (nee Vidomsky), a deeply loving daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She peacefully departed from this world on February 20, 2025, with grace and dignity, leaving a legacy of laughter, courage, generosity and tremendous love.
Arlene was born December 29, 1951, in Yorkton, SK, to Elsie and Frank Vidomsky. Growing up she was known for her determination, independence and strength. Arlene believed having an education lead to a better life which drove her to find a post secondary education she could afford on her own. She wanted to be an Architect but became a Registered Psychiatric Nurse and graduated in 1972 from The Weyburn Mental Hospital Training Program. While studying she formed life-long friends whom she shared a special bond through all the years of service, life and family. Arlene never did anything half-way. She was highly respected by her colleagues and known for her dedication, work ethic, and integrity. She made a lasting impact on those she worked with and her patients.
In Weyburn, Arlene met and married the love of her life, Jack (Robert John) Wruth. Arlene said she was the luckiest mom to have the best children in the world, Andrea and James.
After living in Prince Albert and Regina, the family moved to Springside to be closer to family and purse new business opportunities. Arlene’s skills and resourcefulness were instantly recognized in the community, and she took on cooking at the town’s Annual Fall Supper, being the United Church bookkeeper, and teaching how to sew for the 4H among many other activities. She felt blessed to raise her family in a small town in a simpler time.
Her work career expanded from nursing, to being a mom, turned bookkeeper for the thriving family business in Yorkton then returning to nursing until her retirement in 2014.
Arlene was more than a devoted mother. Arlene was the heartbeat with her strong values of honesty, respect, responsibility and gratitude. She was the lifeforce working tirelessly behind the scenes anticipating the needs of others. Her devotion to caring for family members in their darkest moments of need was unparalleled. She always gave straightforward advice, while nurturing and sending her unwavering support. Her home was the core for family gatherings where you knew to find long squeezes of love, laughter, and lots of really good food!
Arlene could have written a book about the many adventures she had in her life, but her favourite time was being Gramma to five beautiful grandchildren. Moving to Regina was a gift settling into the tiny, quiet, fulfilling life she always dreamed about with them. Whether it was doing homework, playing games, being in Gramma’s cooking school, volunteering at kid’s activities, cheering them on, or having an art class, her zest for enjoying life with her “children” was everywhere. She had a special way of connecting with each one of them, which brought out their very best. She is so very proud!
Arlene’s favourite place on earth was Good Spirit Lake where many memories live on. Her legacy of resilience, joy, and family endure especially in her wise one-line sayings. The connection with her closest life-long friends can never to be broken.
Arlene is predeceased by her mother, father, husband and many aunts and uncles. She is survived by her sister Linda (Dennis) Benko along with many nieces and nephews. Gramma’s love lives forever in her children and grandchildren, Samantha, Alexander, Gabrielle, Charlotte, and Julia.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has offered their love and support during this difficult time.
