Anna Gold VanDelman, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and pillar of the community, passed away on March 19, 2025, at Humber River Hospital in Toronto, Ontario. Born in Montreal on November 2, 1934, Anna’s life was one of unwavering dedication to the well-being of others, and her legacy will forever be cherished by those whose lives she touched.
Anna’s professional life was a testament to her compassionate nature and her commitment to serving others. As a Social Worker with a Master of Social Work degree, she dedicated herself to caring for the elderly and their families, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of countless individuals. Her tenure at Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care spanned over two decades, during which she played a pivotal role in developing new policies and programs that continue to benefit the community to this day.
Beyond her professional achievements, Anna’s impact extended into the realm of community service. Her involvement with Beth Tikvah Synagogue, where she served on several committees and participated in outreach programs for the homeless, exemplified her deep-rooted sense of empathy and commitment to making the world a better place. Additionally, her membership in the Pomegranate Guild of Judaic Textiles reflected her passion for preserving and celebrating Jewish heritage and culture.
Anna’s devotion to her family was unwavering, and her love for her late husband, Louis VanDelman, was a testament to the enduring power of love. Their 68-year marriage was a source of strength and joy, and Anna's heartache at his passing in January 2024 was proof of their undeniable love for each other.
Above all, Anna cherished her role as a grandmother to Nicholas and Zachary Christou. Her love for her grandsons knew no bounds, and she found immense joy in their presence. Her legacy of love and devotion will live on in the hearts of her family and the memories they shared.
Anna’s passing leaves a void in the lives of all who knew her. Her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering support will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and the broader community. The impact of her life’s work and her enduring spirit will continue to resonate for years to come.
Anna Gold VanDelman’s legacy of compassion and service will forever be remembered, and her absence will be deeply felt. May her memory be a blessing to all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
A funeral service to honor Anna’s life will be held at Pardes Shalom Cemetery on Sunday, March 23, at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Baycrest Centre Foundation to The Centre for Aging + Brain Health Innovation. (support.baycrestfoundation.org/site/Donation2)
