Anna Klassen Obituary
With sadness we announce the passing of our mother and Oma, Anna Klassen, on August 1, 2025, at Westhills Care Centre.
Anna Janzen was born in Alexanderpol, Ukraine, on March 8, 1926, to Sara and Heinrich Janzen. In 1929, she was forced to flee to Germany with her parents and siblings and eventually on to Paraguay. Here she married Franz Klassen and they raised three boys. They emigrated to Canada in 1959.
Mom was an avid quilter, skilled seamstress, and talented musician. Some of her pastimes included quilting for MCC with the ladies at Scott Street church, and playing guitar in a group led by Albert Dahl.
Mom was predeceased by her brothers Abram and Henry, her sister Sarah, husband Frank, and son Erich. She is survived by her sons Helmut and Rudi, three daughters-in-law, Mary Ann, Myrna, and Irene, seven grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Her family will feel the loss deeply.
The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to the Home Care workers at Radiant Care, and to the exceptional staff at Westhills Care Centre, for providing mom with dignity and care in her latter years.
The family will receive friends at Tallman Funeral Homes, 3277 King St., Vineland on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 from 10-11am with funeral service starting at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Anna’s memory may be made to MCC
