MICHIELS, Andy (1943 – 2025)
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, father-in-law, papa/grandpa, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend. Andy passed away peacefully in his 82nd year at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital on February 14th, 2025. Born in Langemark, Belgium on November 23rd, 1943 to Julian Michiels (1978) and Irma (nee Platteeuw) Michiels (2008). Loving and dedicated father to Wayne (Carole) and Vicky (Ron). Andy adored his grandchildren Laura, Adam, Faith (Spencer), and Rachel. Andy was a loving uncle to Lisa (Tim), Brian (Stephanie) and their children, and brother-in-law to Diane Michiels. He is also survived by the extended Lava and Nowe families. Andy was predeceased by his love of his life Angelina (1994), and his little brother Johnny (2023), and special friend Mary-Jean Duwyn (2020).
Andy was a gentle, kind man who was proud to be a Belgian and devoted tobacco farmer in Norfolk County, where he proudly farmed along with his brother and family for many years. Andy was passionate about the outdoors, where he loved to fish, hunt, quad, snowmobile and feed fish in his well-stocked fishpond. He was a collector of many things and loved paperweights, grammaphones and crocks. He also loved cars, especially his hot red Camaro.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Nurses, PSWs & staff of Maple Manor Nursing Home and to Dr. Hainer, Dr. Chowdhury, Dr. Lamb and Dr. Roth for their exceptional care of our dad over the years.
Friends, neighbours, and relatives are invited to attend public visitation on Friday, February 21st, 2025, between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes, 40 Queen Street, Langton. Funeral Liturgy Service of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Saturday, February 22nd, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. in the Verhoeve Funeral Home Chapel, Langton, by Rev. Fr. Seejo John. Interment follows at Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery, Langton. All funeral attendees are welcome to attend a CWL-prepared reception at Courtland Community Centre, 272 Main Street of Courtland, immediately following the interment.
