André Goyer passed away peacefully on March 4, 2025, after moving to room 244, following a challenging few months in the hospital. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Karen Goyer; his daughter, Michelle Goyer; his son-in-law, Stephen Forster; and his granddaughter, who will soon make her arrival. He is also remembered with love by his devoted sisters, Francine (Claude) and Mireille; his nephews, Martin, Francis (Mary-Jose), and Maxime (Catherine) and their children; his goddaughter, Martina (Patrik); Anna; his godson, Sammy; and all of his incredible friends who became family. His beloved dogs, Bear and Moose, will also miss him dearly – always waiting for him to return home or hoping for a favourite treat.
André was truly one of a kind – a light that could never be dimmed, no matter how hard you tried. In true André style, he held onto his humor, his quick wit, his need for just one more pound of butter, and his stubborn nature right until the very end. You always knew what André was thinking and when it was time for you to leave.
He cared deeply for those around him, leaving an undeniable impact on so many lives. A proud father, he never missed an opportunity to share, celebrate, and brag about his children and their accomplishments. He was equally proud of his wife, Karen, cherishing the life they built together and always speaking of her with admiration and love.
Selfless to his core, André was the friend everyone could count on. He was always the first to step up when someone needed support, ensuring that no one ever felt alone. He embraced life, finding joy in the little things – sharing a glass of wine at the cottage, racing his boat around the lake, enjoying time with family and friends, or cooking a meal that brought people together.
André will be forever remembered for being exactly who he was:
• A man who could light up any room with his jokes, his dancing, or his air guitar.
• A passionate cook who found pure joy in watching people enjoy his food.
• Someone whose laughter was so infectious, you couldn’t help but join in.
• The master of cracking jokes that were only appropriate when coming from him.
• And above all, hilarious, full of life, proud, generous, kind, devoted, and loving.
André left with one final secret—he was the only one who knew his granddaughter’s name, a special gift he carried with him.
May he rest peacefully, reunited with their beloved son Christopher – just in time for the hockey playoffs. Go Leafs Go!
In lieu of flowers, and in honour of the five-year anniversary of Chris’ passing, memorial donations can be made to the Chris Goyer Memorial Fund through Hockey For Youth. Now, father and son are reunited once again.
A celebration of André’s life will be held at a later date – one that will be even more special, as it will include his granddaughter, who will get to be part of the love and stories that will continue in his honour.
