Newhook, Alverna (Vernie) Louise—aged 83 years young, passed peacefully away at home in the forever loving arms of her family on Friday, May 16, 2025, after a courageous battle with declining health.
Forever loved and sadly missed by all who knew her, especially her adoring children: Paul (Charlene), Barry (Jennifer), Susan (Jared), and grandchildren: Sam (Bridget), Ben, Kathleen (Taya), Henry, Max (Dan), Charlie, Rudy, Ivy, Emma, and Leslie, as well as sisters-in-law Dot Foster and Hazel Newhook, and brother-in-law Joe Newhook. Also left with wonderful memories are special friends Betty Martin and Maisie Adey, as well as a large circle of family and friends.
Predeceased by the love of her life, husband Leslie Newhook, her parents Susan and John Foster, parents-in-law Patience and Joseph Newhook, siblings Herbert Foster (late Beatrice), Viola Piercey (late Noah), Ray Foster (late Bennett), Joyce Martin (late John), Leander Foster (Dot), Gladys Foster, in-laws Sam (late Sally) Absalom (late Ruby), Mildred, Erik (late Mary), Selina Smith (late Harold), Elizabeth Forward (late Ken), Sally Wills (late Jack), Bob (Hazel).
Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Monday, May 19th from 7–9 pm and Tuesday May 20 from 2–4 pm and 7–9 pm. Funeral Service to be held on Wednesday, May 21st at 2:00 p.m. at St. John’s Salvation Army Citadel, Adams Ave with interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road.
