Obituary
Born in 1927 on the Isle of Man. Died in Oakville in her 97th year Thursday March 6th very peacefully and kindly in her own bed, in own home surrounded with love and song.
Wonderful loving, generous, and supportive mom to Roger (Cathy) and Jane(Justine).
Sister of much-loved Joan Lace who pre-deceased her in 2021. Aunt to the Lace family of Marion, Catherine, Juan and Peter and cousin to Malcolm Moore all of the Isle of Man.
Mom was Manx through and through and would return for several months every spring and summer to the Isle of Man. Her last visit occurring when she was 90.
Her ashes will be returned to join her parents and sister at a later date.
Mom however truly embraced her Canadian life when we emigrated in 1957. Settling initially in the Clarkson area and then for the last 56 years in Oakville.
She joined a very supportive loyal group of wonderful friends over the years at various churches, choirs, walking and exercise groups, St Paul’s fellowship, and the Queen Elizabeth Seniors Centre. Enjoying trips together, cottage escapes and adventures all surrounded by love and laughter.
Mom was also a long-standing volunteer with Syl Apps Youth Centre, the Crisis Line and as a weekly friendly visitor well into her eighties to folks who often were much younger than her.
Some of her passions included music of many genres , playing the piano, puzzles, birds, flowers, a spirited conversation solving the world’s problems, reading, and chocolate. Not necessarily in that order.
Mom would not have been able to stay in her home for the last 17 months without the kind competent and supportive care of Dr. Kamara and Acclaim Health.
Home Instead provided the 24/7 carers who became like family. Carmen, Paulina, Susan, Ronke and Florida our gratitude is immeasurable.
There will be an informal celebration of Alice’s remarkable life on Thursday April 24 at 11:00hrs at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore West in Oakville (one block East of Kerr Street)
Ample parking in the rear. This will be followed by refreshments and sharing of memories
In lieu of flowers if desired, donations in mom’s name could be made to the Halton Distress Centre.
