Alice Ramsey Obituary
It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that we announce the death of our mother Jean Ramsey, who passed away suddenly at Harbour Stone Nursing Home on Monday December 16/2024.
Jean was born in Sydney Mines and was the daughter of Roderick King & Veronica Peddle.
Jean leaves behind daughter Sherry ( Roger) Taylor and son Robert (Karen)Ramsey, grandsons David Taylor (Kristin MacDonald) Justin Taylor(Kellie Gouthro) Kyle & Mark Ramsey, great grandchildren Breton, Bailee & Poppy Taylor .She is survived by sister Melena (Alan) Rae.
Jean is predeceased by her husband and partner of 60 plus years Eugene,grandson Roger Taylor Jr, parents Roderick & Veronica King (Peddle),brother George ( Majorie) King, sister Audrey ( George) Ferguson.
Jean was an avid knitter,sewer & crafter. Teaching herself to knit and sew with some help from daughter Sherry. She knitted many pairs of mittens and donated them to the local schools in Sydney Mines & North Sydney. Jean was very giving of her time and talents to family and to the churches to which she belonged. Jean also made sure that she donated school supplies to the local elementary school for many years. She could also be found have a good laugh with son Rob.
Jean was also and avid gardener spending many hours with her hands in the dirt, her favotite place to spend time. She also loved picking blue berries in the summer, when she couldn’t be found she was most likely picking berries between Forrest Street and the train track behind Yorke Street.
She was a member of C,G.I.T as a teenager,the UCW and other church groups,both junior & senior choirs of Carmen United Church Sydney Mines and a member of Saint Matthew Wesley North Sydney.
She was a loving and involved grandmother to her four grandsons. Often found in Jeans kitchen baking with them.
She was a member of the Johnny Miles Committee along with her husband Eugene, often seen at the different functions held by the committee or behind the scenes.
Jean will be greatly missed for her sense of humour and her kind and loving spirit. You are with Dad and the angels you loved so much now Mom.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Harbour Stone Nursing Home Kimberly Hall,and the nurses and staff of St. Anne’s Bay third floor for their care and compassion towards Jean and her family.
