Obituary of Albert Charles Morrison
It is with sad and heavy hearts that the family of Al (Albert Charles) Morrison announce his passing on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, leaving behind his loving wife of 26 years, Beverlee (Logan/Savoy). For over two years he fought a courageous battle with serious health issues but remained positive and cheerful throughout.
Al is best remembered for his friendly, patient, fun-loving, non-judgemental personality. He was always ready to lend a hand when he saw a need. He was an excellent listener and a wise counselor who had the special quality of knowing just the right thing to say. Al was a natural “caregiver” of people. He would start each day with the goals of making a difference in someone’s day, and to make Bev giggle. (Mission usually accomplished!) Family gatherings with his children, grandchildren, and many siblings were high on his list of favourite things. They each admired and loved him dearly. He never forgot any of their birthdays.
Al loved life and lived it with courage and passion. He was a natural driver and loved to travel. He thought nothing of heading across the country with Bev by his side. Winters spent in Clearwater, FL usually ended with a detour on the drive home to “someplace we’ve never been before”. Such fun! Al had a sweet tooth. Some of his favourite things were vanilla ice cream, homemade strawberry jam and Bev’s ginger cookies. Al was born in Grand River, PEI on October 21, 1946, to Lorne and Marion Morrison, their firstborn of 11 children. He spent many years in Timberlea, NS before coming to New Brunswick in 1999 – in his words- “for love”. He retired from Canada Revenue Agency in 2012. Al made close friends wherever he lived and was very good at keeping in contact with them over the years. He was a “people person”.
Besides Bev, he is survived by his son Lorne (Debbie) and Lorne’s mother Blanche; his son Matthew and daughter Sarah and their mother Gloria; stepchildren Sally Clive and Andrew Savoy; and six siblings – Greta, Eric, Ethel, Reg, Doug, Lynne and their families. His grandchildren Jessica, Elizabeth, Brechan, Paytra, and Sabby will miss their Papa. Al was pre-deceased by brothers Owen, Charlie, Carman, and David.
Many thanks to the dedicated hospital staff who tended Al with respect and care to the end; Extra mural nurses, especially Leanna, for their many home visits; and his physicians, in particular Dr. Rivera, Dr. Noel, and Dr. Sean Keyes for their expertise and excellent care during his health journey. There will be a Funeral Mass in Nova Scotia on July 22 at 11:00 AM at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Parrish, Tantallon.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7424). A service will be held at Grace Presbyterian Church on Saturday, July 26 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be held at Brenans Funeral Home on Friday, July 25 from 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM.
