Albert Erlenbusch Obituary
Al was born in Detroit, Michigan on D-Day. After high school graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. During the Cuban Missile Crisis served as senior medical ward corpsman at the base hospital in Guantanamo, Cuba. His next posting was as an independent medical corpsman with the U.S. Marine Corps at Camp LeJeune.
He married Phyllis in 1968. After completing his B.A. they moved to Toronto in 1970 so Al could attend graduate school. He earned his M.A. in 1972 and worked at Dellcrest Children’s Center and later at the Ontario Ministry of Health. He managed the pilot paramedic program in Toronto and later implemented and managed the permanent program.
After retiring Al and Phyllis moved to the Sunshine Coast in 2004. Al became an active supporter and volunteer of the Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden.
Al passed away quietly at home Wednesday, January 8, 2025. He is survived by his wife Phyllis, son David, grandsons Atticus and Oskar, sister Karen Hutchinson, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Sylvia and Oliver Christianson.
