Agnes Jessie Weir Tucker (Anne)
October 17, 1934-January 9, 2025
MCGILL, ANNE (nee TUCKER) After a long battle with Alzheimer’s, passed peacefully at Lakeview Manor in Beaverton with her family by her side on Thursday January 09, 2025 in her 91st year.
She will be painfully missed by her husband of 69 years William, her children Deborah (Paul Duncan), d. William (Tammy) and John (Cathy), grandchildren Kathleen (Jay Graver), Samantha (Trevor Daley), d. Miranda, Christopher, Alexandra, Matthew and great-grandchildren Nathan, Vienna, Nicolas and Benjamin. As well, she will be missed by her many cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Anne was the heart and soul of the family and raised her three children in a happy, loving and welcoming home. She was known for her big heart and equally big smile. She was immensely proud of her husband and children, and passed this strong sense of family on to her children.
As a grandmother, known as both ‘Grandma’ and ‘Nana’, she was always taking the kids on outings (which usually included a stop for snacks and toys), hosting ‘cousin’ sleep overs (which always had a Macaroni pony story at bed time) and generally spoiling them rotten. She attended every graduation, horse show, hockey game, dance recital, swim meet, school concert, and more that she could. She was so very proud of all of her grandchildren. She leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories that are being shared with a generation of great-grandchildren.
Anne’s light continued to shine as dementia slowly stole her joy for life and her many creative talents. She was a skilled self-taught seamstress, a painter, a crafter, an amazing DIYer and so much more. She was loved by all who knew her and was always committed to help anyone who asked for help. She volunteered many hours each year to charities including Heart & Stroke Society, Canadian Cancer Society, the Kidney Foundation, and a new immigrants welcome/assistance program.
The family would like to extend our deepest thanks to the incredible staff of Lakeview Manor for their kindness and the excellent care that they provided to Anne while she was a resident. They were an extension of Anne’s family and treated her with love and respect.
At the request of the family, there will be no service. Instead a Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date. Friends wishing to honour Anne are invited by the family to make a donation in her name to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
