ABBOUD, Adele
It is with somber hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Adele Nagib Abboud on February 8, 2025 in Windsor, Ontario (Canada). For most of her 75 years, Adele lived in Joub Jannine, Lebanon and returned to Canada just a few years ago to live with her only surviving brother, Mounib Abboud (Pauline), and his family. The youngest of four, Adele is predeceased by her parents, Najib Shehady and Victoria Salem Abboud of Joub Jannine, Lebanon, her sister Angela Abboud-Salami (Calgary, Alberta) and brother Elias Abboud (Leila) of Windsor.
Although she never married, Adele found immense joy in her 9 nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and great-nephews, and a close circle of friends. Ever socially engaged, Adele flourished when spending time with her many friends and relatives in Joub Jannine while drinking strong Arabic coffee, smoking (though she’d never admit that), and talking politics. She was the town’s darling, and everyone knew her by her first name. She used to say proudly that “Everyone loves me. Honest to God.” She was an avid gardener and devout Christian who believed that God was always and forever the reason for life and love.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025, from 10:00am until Funeral Prayers at 11 am at Reid Funeral Home, 87 Maidstone Ave., Es (519-776-4233). Live stream will be available at 11 am. Interment to follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Highway 3, Oldcastle.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Father Seraphim of St. Ignatius of Antiochian Orthodox Church (Windsor), to the entire staff at Country Village-Woodslee long-term care home that tirelessly supported Adele and offered exceptional care for the last few months of her life. The kindness and compassion of the staff at Reid Funeral Home and Greenlawn Cemetery have also been deeply appreciated.
Donations may be made in Adele’s name to the Alzheimer Society of Windsor & Es County, the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada, and/or Beit el Baraka charity of Lebanon. Family and friends may share their memories and condolences online at www.reidfuneralhome.ca
