GROPP, Ada Sophia (Harloff)
Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at her residence Knollcrest Lodge, Milverton, surrounded by her loving family. Ada was born 101 years ago on March 9, 1923, in Wartburg, Ontario, a daughter of the late Louis and Sophia (Malcho) Harloff.
Cherished and loving mother of Joyce Riddell and Dennis and wife Tammy Gropp. Devoted grandmother of Debbie, Kevin, Mark, Jason, Julie, Sherry, Anita and Chad. She will remain in the hearts of her many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.
Ada is predeceased and now reunited with her beloved husband Carl Henry Gropp who predeceased her in 1996, her daughter Ann and husband Murray Eggert, sisters, brothers, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; Norman and Edith Harloff, Albert Harloff, Peter and Rose Harloff, Egmont and Gertrude Harloff, Lloyd Harloff in infancy, Pearl and Norman Gropp, Marie and Harvey Querengesser, Dorothy and Fred Attridge, Doreen and Doug Schlotzhauer, and Earl and Florence Gropp.
Ada was a long-time member of Burns Presbyterian Church and previous to that a Member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Along side her husband Carl they looked after the farm together and raised a beautiful family, that she was so proud of. Ada was a member of the quilt groups with both the Lutheran and Presbyterian Church, a long time member of the Agricultural Society and the former Institute of Lily Dempsey, she spent time volunteering at the Brunner Nursing Home and was a member of the Knollcrest Auxiliary.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 7 Spencer Street. Milverton, on Sunday, January 5, 2025, from 12:30 until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Megan Penfold to officiate. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery to follow. For those unable to attend the funeral service a livestream link will be found on the funeral home website.
As expressions of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Burns Presbyterian Church, Knollcrest Lodge or a Charity of One’s Choice and can be done on the funeral home website.
