Margaret Elizabeth Flynn – January 4, 1938 – September 7, 2025
Peacefully after a lengthy illness at Rockwood Terrace in Durham, Ontario. Margaret Elizabeth Flynn, formerly of Markdale in her 88th year. She is reunited with her late husband Brian (2023). Perfect Mom of Shelley (Michael Kenwell ) of Singhampton Ontario. Predeceased by her parents Lemon and Minnie Mae Mills (nee Nielsen) and her siblings Oliver, Alice Davis(Bill), Betty Ransom(Jim), Fred(Ruth), Rosalie Golden, Mary Ann Taylor and Bill as well as a sister who died in infancy. She is survived by her brother-in-law Harvey Golden, sister-in-lawin Anita Mills and many dear nieces and nephews.
Margaret met and married Brian in 1961 after Brian was sent by the Simcoe Reformer newspaper to interview her about her Baptist youth group. They moved to Willowdale then Kingston, Ontario following Brian’s work. While in Kingston Margaret worked for Queen’s University as secretary to the Dean, in Admissions and finally at the Agnes Etherington Gallery. These were some of the happiest years of her life. After the birth of her daughter, Brian moved the family back to the farm near Flesherton Ontario. Margaret soon found work first at the Grey County Board office, Don Holt Real Estate and finally with the Ministry of Agriculture in Markdale Ontario. Margaret worked for the Ministry until retirement . She made many friends and loved assisting farmers to get the advice and grant programs offered by O.M.A.F.R.A.
Margaret and Brian enjoyed many winters in Panama Beach Florida participating in their winter church, going to many yard sales and just enjoying the warm weather on the beach. Sadly, this was cut short by health problems and Margaret was admitted to Rockwood Terrace in 2022. She received the very best of care and seemed very happy there. Despite her advanced dementia Margaret remained her pleasant, kind and helpful self. Margaret will be remembered for her kindness and being a good friend to everyone she met as well as being a Perfect Mom.
Cremation has taken place and Margaret will be interred in Flesherton Cemetery on Friday, October 3rd at 11:00 AM followed by a reception at Fawcett Funeral Home. If desired, memorial contributions to the Grey Bruce Health Services Foundation. Online donations and condolences at www.fawcettfuneralhome.ca
