Obituary of Roy John Lynk
Roy John Lynk, CWO(retired), 81, of Medford passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025, in the Valley Regional Hospital. Born on February 11, 1944, in Wolfville, Roy was the son of the late, Gordon and Burniece (Messom) Lynk.
Roy proudly dedicated 32 years of his life to military service. He began his career with the Canadian Armed Forces in April 1962, serving first with the Fort Garry Horse. He then continued with the Lord Strathcona’s Horse Regiment before completing his distinguished career with the Royal Canadian Dragoons. Through his unwavering commitment and leadership, Roy rose to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer, earning the respect and admiration of all who served alongside him. Roy was an active member of the Emmanuel United Church and helped keep the bells ringing. He was a long-time member of the Habitant Branch #73 RCL and held several positions including President. Roy was passionate about working with youth for the Call to Remembrance.
Roy was incredibly faithful and devoted to his family and neighbors alike. No matter the size of the task, Roy took great pride in his work and put his whole heart into his craftsmanship.
Roy is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Sharon Eva (Palmeter) Lynk; son, David Lynk; stepdaughter, Jan (Gary) Porter; siblings, Barbara Goodyear of Eastern Passage, Clarence (Debbie) Lynk of Hillaton, Joseph of Kentville, Murray (Chrissy) of Kingsport and Grace (Gary) Sherman of Ross Creek; sisters in law, Maryann of Kingsport and Wanda George (Bill); grandchildren, Cassidy, Connor, Rhea and Katherine; many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Roy was predeceased by his brothers, Lawrence, David, Robert, Eugene and Ronald; sister Mildred “Midge” as well as his sister-in-law, Andrea.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 2:00 pm in the Emmanuel United Church, Kingsport with a reception to follow. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9 (902-679-2822).
