Obituary of Patricia Karen MacDonell
Patricia Karen MacDonell, eldest daughter of Patrick Kenneth “Red” MacDonell (2011) and Eileen MacDonell (neé Hutchinson, 1990), passed away on Tuesday September 9th, 2025 following a brief illness, just shy of her 82nd birthday. Big sister to Lynda (Gary) and Donna (John MacManus, 2012); together, the Three Graces. Beloved mother of Tom, Kerry (Patrick), and Matt (Nicole). Adored by grandkids Elsie, Georgia, Kylie, Javan, Hannah, Talia and Courtney.
She was a pioneer: a single mom in the mid-nineteen-seventies without a map or precedent raising three kids. Hard-working, devoted, fierce. Later in life, breast cancer survivor and fighter of heart disease right to the end. Her last 15 years were spent in the well-deserved comfort of the homes she shared with Matt and Nicole, getting to be “GMa” to Elsie and Georgia and 2nd mom to Nicole. What a gift, for her, for them, and for us.
She loved her family, friends and co-workers, loved good food, good drink, good shopping, and especially a good laugh. She had the best skin and she always “cleaned up good”: she was a beautiful woman with a wonderful fashion sense. She loved to disarm everyone and anyone with her wicked and often inappropriate sense of humour. She is legendary and will forever be in our hearts and memories.

Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm.
