It is with great sadness that the family of Mae Carol Dunn (Hutchison) announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Wife, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend after a heroic battle with Cancer.
Born on September 13, 1951, in Saint John N.B. to Anne and Duncan Hutchison of Grand Bay, Mae is survived by her Husband Gary A. Dunn, Son Rick Dunn ( Melody ) of Costa Rica, Son Chris Dunn ( Angela ) of Lions Bay B.C. and chosen Daughter Michelle Hodder of Kingston Nova Scotia. She is also survived by Sister Jean Collins (Wayne) of Dartmouth Nova Scotia, Sister Anne Peverill of Liverpool Nova Scotia, Sister Marjorie Grieves (Len) of Cumberland Bay NB, her grandchildren: Madissen, Kaitlyne, Kay and MaKayla and various nieces, cousins and great Grandchildren from around Canada and the United States. Last but certainly not least Mae is survived by “Piper” her beloved Shih Zu Yorkie.
Mae is predeceased by her Mother Anne and Father Duncan, Brother John, Brother Jimmy, Beloved Mother in-law Doris, Beloved Father in-law Malcolm, Brother in-law Ronnie and Brother in-law Gordon.
Mae has met and touched many over the years serving her family and her community, whether as a selfless family member helping another in need or as a Red Cross Homemaker going above and beyond for clients and their families. Christmas was always magical in the Dunn home as she carefully planned every detail from the decorations to the hot chocolate, her famous sugar cookies and the reading of the “The Night Before Christmas”. Her love for her Grandchildren was always apparent when she was buying them various trinkets or taking them to the beach and Atlantic Playland. Mae loved Dancing, Classical Music, Rock Music, old time Country Music and the Big Band Sounds of her Mother’s and Grandmother’s era.
Over the years you could find Mae with her husband Gary boating on the river, traveling in their Motorhome or out on their Harley. She loved walking the trail in Hampton with Gary, John and Judy, as well as Tea time with Judy and playing with “Piper”.
In her younger days Mae enjoyed Ceramics, playing softball, playing UNO with friends, driving her kids around to Little League and listening to her boys play music. Growing up, Mae spent many summers with her family and extended family at Cape Tormentine NB often referring to them as some of the best times of her life.
Mae, known to many as “Maezee” loved Birds and Red Cardinals in particular. Her Favorite plant was lavender as well as her favorite scent.
She was the greatest Mom to her children and greatest wife to Gary. They are forever grateful. She will never be forgotten and is already greatly missed.
Donations in her memory can be made to Bobby’s Hospice as a thank you to the wonderful Doctor’s, Nurse’s, Cleaning Staff and Volunteers that made her last days truly memorable.
