It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of
Weldon Alexander Wilson of Fredericton, at Frederick Hall Shannex on
July 1st, 2025. He was 93 years old. Born August 25th, 1931, to
parents Amos & Myrtle (Harris)
Wilson.
Dad started out as a lineman with NB Power. He
later worked and studied at the dining room table and earned his
associate degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked in several
places in Canada and the United States. His family’s odyssey
took them from Newcastle Creek, NB to Indiana, Connecticut, New
Jersey, back to Connecticut, returning to New Brunswick, back to
Connecticut again and finally retiring back home in New
Brunswick.
Dad’s life’s work was building
power lines. There wasn’t a road you went down that he
wouldn’t be able to tell you exactly how the power lines
were built and don’t worry, he was looking at them and
telling you all about it. A great storyteller, for anyone
who would listen. He loved to talk with people and will be greatly
missed by his family & friends.
Weldon is survived
by his three daughters: Trudy Hamelin (Bill Dunlop), Vicky Davis
(Greg) and Trina James (Richard) his grandchildren Heather (Paul),
Betty Jo (Evan), Dana, Cassie (Cassidy) and Danny, great grandchildren
Liam, Caleb, Issac, and Colton, sisters Lorna Manning (James) and Nola
Pollack, sister-in-law Beverly Cass as well as several nieces and
nephews. Weldon is predeceased by his wife of 71 years Betty Louise
Wilson, a brother Harley, sister Joyce Gereau, brothers in law Ora
Gereau, Donny Pollack, Russell Cass and Robert Cass.
Dad’s greatest love was mum. He would sit and watch her play
guitar and sing by the hour. He was her greatest fan. Dad enjoyed his
children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his many canine
companions.
There will be no
visitation or funeral service. A private family graveside service will
be held at a later date. For those who wish to make a donation in
Weldon’s memory, the family has requested donations be made
to the Oromocto SPCA or the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation.
Special thanks to Frederick Hall, Shannex Fredericton, for the
wonderful care they gave Dad.
Bishop’s
Funeral Home & Crematorium 540 Woodstock Road Fredericton have
been entrusted with the arrangements.
