Murano, Lucia (nee Fiorentino) – November 7 1961 – April 17, 2025
Passed away peacefully into the hands of God, surrounded by family and friends at Kingston General Hospital. Predeceased by her beloved husband Raffaele and her dear parents Natalina and Giacinto Fiorentino and mother-in-law Rosina Murano.
Lucy will be sorely missed by her sister Teresa, parents-in-law Pat Murano and Linda McCutcheon, as well as extended family and friends in Italy and Canada.
Lucy was not a tall person but her generosity of spirit and kindness knew no bounds. Proud of her heritage, Lucy was part of the Italo- Canadian Club and took part in many activities, as well as carrying on Italian culinary traditions in cooking, baking and bottling her own pasta sauce each Fall. She enjoyed playing cards with devoted friends, as well as travelling and reading.
Lucy had a simple joy for life and was known to host 4:30 am High Tea with friends on the occasion of several Royal Weddings, hair fascinators included.
She was a devoted employee with Correctional Service Canada for many years and was a much loved and respected colleague. Lucy was a woman of strong faith. She bravely fought the past few years but when God called she was ready.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Joshua Durbin, Dr. Bailey Dyck and all the warrior nurses and doctors at Kingston Health Sciences Centre that took such good care of Lucy.
A visitation will be held at the James Reid Funeral Home (1900 John Counter Blvd, Kingston) on Saturday, May 10, 2025 from 10:00 am to 10:50 am. Liturgy of the Word in the Chapel at 11:00 am. Interment at St Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, with a Reception to follow in the James Reid Reception Centre.
For those who wish, donations in memory of Lucy may be made to Diabetes Canada, Scleroderma Canada, or United Hospitals Kingston Foundation (UHKF)- KGH Cardiology and would be appreciated by her family.
