Wayne Reeves
The death occurred peacefully at Prince County Hospital,
March 13,2025 surrounded by his family, of Wayne Reeves of Shamrock,
aged 76.
Wayne is survived by his children Carmen (Betty Howard),
Gini, and Patrick (Kajsa), and by his grand daughters, who were so
special to him, Payton (Bentley), Faith (Luke) and Addilynn
Reeves.
Wayne was also lucky to have extended family in his life,
Betty’s children Brianna (Marius) Arsenault, their children
Bradley and Coleman, Kamden (Lacey) Arsenault and Brett MacAusland. He
is also survived by his siblings and friends for his entire life,
Billy (Jean), Brian (Karen), Jimmy (Kathy), Bernard (Darlene), Cynthia
(Justin) Lawless, and Mary (Sharon) Reeves. His Sisters and Brothers
in Law, Deina (Lou) Smith, Louise Jay (Rollie), Bruce Campbell (Ann),
Scott Campbell (Virginia), Laurie (Steven) Leard, Shawn (Brenda)
Campbell, Pauline Reeves, Kenny Gallant, Danny Bernard, and Harvey
Vissey.
Pre-deceased in 1999 by his wife and love of his life Anna
Marie (Campbell). He missed her dearly, and we know that their reunion
was a joyous one. We hope that they are dancing the jive as we speak.
Also pre-deceased by his infant twin sons Edmund and Everett, his
parents Everett and Margaret (McQuaid), and his parents-in-law Edmund
and Jenny Campbell; his siblings Connie Doucette, Carol Vissey, Donna
Mae Gallant, and Donnie Reeves; his in-laws, Debbie Bernard, Colleen
Campbell, Jody Reeves and Joe Doucette.
Dad lived a simple life, and his biggest joys came from
family and friends. He wasn’t much for material possessions,
and for as long as we can remember said “I don’t need
anything for Christmas.” We think that “Salt of the
Earth” is an apt description for him. The description is as much
for the explanation that he was straightforward and honest, as it is
for the fact that for the entirety of his life he loved working the
earth in his farming life. He didn’t own the farms that he
worked on, but he treated them like he did. He was hardworking,
conscientious, and unbelievably devoted to his work.
We’ve calculated that he would have been a part of over
sixty planting and harvest seasons, and he wouldn’t have
wanted it any other way. He was proud to be known as a hard-working
man, and we’ve had many people tell us over the years that
his value on these farms was incalculable. The nurses at the PCH told
us that even though his body was certainly smaller than it was in the
past, that his hands were those of a hardworking man. He would have
loved to hear that.
He was a great man, and we will all miss
him.
Visitation on Monday, March 17 at Kinkora Place, Kinkora from
4 to 7 pm. The funeral will take place on Tuesday, March 18 at St.
Malachy’s Roman Catholice Church, Kinkora at 10:30 a.m. Arrangements
entrusted to Lawless Funeral Home, Kinkora.
