Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Bluewater Health, George Dino Bronzi passed away at the age of 91.
Beloved husband of Vanna Bronzi. Cherished father of Lee Ann Bronzi, Joe Bronzi (Lisa), and Mike Bronzi (Heather Campbell). Treasured Nonno to Cory and Skylar Soininen, Spencer, Kurtis, Michaela Bronzi (Jared Pageau), Cameron and Olivia Burgess, and Brittany.
Predeceased by his parents, Giuseppe (Joe) and Annunziata (Ripa) Bronzi; his brother, Joe Bronzi; his sister-in-law, Helen Del Chiaro (Fred); and his brother-in-law, Claudio Marcaccio. Survived by his dear sister, Bianca Marcaccio of St. Mary’s, Ontario.
George was born to Italian immigrants from Porto Sant’Elpidio, Italy, who settled in St. Mary’s, Ontario, in search of a better life.
He enjoyed a successful 40-year career with Ontario Hydro, including 12 years at the Sir Adam Beck Plant in Niagara Falls and 19 years at the Scott Road facility in Sarnia. George retired as First Operator, a role in which he was highly respected—not only for his leadership but also for his legendary popcorn during break time.
George’s passions included tending his vegetable garden, growing garlic, golfing, crafting custom golf clubs, and winemaking.
A funeral service will be held at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. Visitation will be held one hour prior, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the exceptional staff at Bluewater Health, who went above and beyond in providing care and compassion during George’s final days.
In lieu of flowers, sympathy may be expressed through donations to Bluewater Health Foundation or St. Joseph’s Hospice, Sarnia.
