KILSBY, Wayne James Alexander
Wayne passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at the age of 80, in the Grand River Hospital, Kitchener, Ontario after a lengthy but valiant battle with cancer. Wayne stayed at home until just a couple of hours before the end.
Wayne was predeceased by his mother Erminie Bruder Kilsby, his father James Alfred Kilsby and his brother Sheldon Kilsby. He is remembered by Madelaine’s daughter, Jacqueline Stadler (Andrew) and grandsons, Franc and Matthew, by his daughter, Shelley-Lynn Kilsby (Brian), by his son-in-law Carl Steininger, grandchildren, Carl, Jr. and Shylo, and great-grandchildren. Wayne was loved and respected by his family and extended family.
Prior to Wayne’s diagnosis with cancer, Wayne and Madelaine spent a number of years cruising the Pacific to Hawaii and to many of the islands in the Caribbean. He loved the very interesting people he met on the ships, as well as the food and entertainment.
Although Wayne was a business man at heart and had a varied and interesting business life, his true passion (after his family) lay with his music. He started two bands, The Continentals when he was in high school and later The Blue Tones. He was lead guitarist in both bands. He had a true ear for music and was comfortable playing his guitar or could easily sit down at the keyboard or piano and very quickly start playing songs by ear that he loved.
In his later years he became a model railroad enthusiast and loved to collect unusual trains. Eventually, his love of model trains led him to starting a small business during his retirement years. Many summers were spent on shopping sprees from Ottawa to London visiting every hobby shop a long the way, as well as attending numerous conferences in the United States.
Wayne had a wide breadth of knowledge which led to many interesting, varied and intellectual conversations.
We all knew Wayne to be generous of heart and also a stickler for details.
We invite you to join us in the Celebration of Wayne’s Life on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., in Fawcett’s Funeral Home, 82 Pine Street, Collingwood, Ontario.
