September 14th, 1925 – March 29th, 2025
Our dearly loved and cherished Mom left us quietly, as was her way, to join her beloved husband Stewart (58 years).
She worked hard on the family farm raising her family and was a perfect partner to Stewart.
She has left behind her children, Sharon (late David), Murray (Lynette), Marilyn (David Michael), Ken (Margaret), who will love her forever, and she will remain smiling in their memories. Verna looked on her twelve grandchildren with love and affection, so interested in their lives, triumphs, and happiness. There are also 17 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren who provided her with constant smiles, happiness, and lots of hugs.
As a young woman she enlisted in the army during WWII. She met and married the love of her life just before leaving the army. She raised her family, supported the local church UCW and the many functions and projects. She had many local lifelong friends who passed before her, as 5 of her sisters with only Dorothy remaining and with whom she held a special bond.
A service to celebrate Verna’s life will take place at the Valentia Community Centre, 106 Elm Tree Road, Valentia on Sunday April 13th, 2025 at 1:00 p.m with a light reception to follow. Donations to the Valentia Community Centre would be appreciated, and can be made by cheque through the funeral home.
