Suzanne Lyla Racine
December 24, 1964 – March 11, 2025
With very heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Suzanne Racine. After a long battle with MS and
other health issues, she has passed away peacefully at the age of 60 with her devoted husband and
sobriety sister, Micheline Roy, at her side.
Suzanne was born in Sudbury on December 24,1964. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 39
years and her special support rescue dog, Charlie. She is survived by her daughters Chantal DaCunha
(Robert) and Cassie, and her grandson Blake. She was predeceased by her parents Lyla and Keith
Golden and her sister Judith Carruthers. She is survived by her brother-in-law Jim and nephew Jamie
from Sudbury.
Sue, what can I say? The first day I met you 40 years ago, it was love at first sight, and eight months
later we were married. We had many good times together fishing at the French River with good friends,
travelling to many different resorts and visiting Niagara Falls. You always supported me and believed in
me. I will never forget you. You are the love of my life. You will be deeply missed. Love, Rick & Charlie.
Suzanne, my little sister in sobriety. Suzanne was a big part of the 12-step program. She touched so
many wonderful people and always had something good to share about this program, giving her reason
to go on. She had the biggest heart, loved to shop and buy things with her friends. She never forgot
birthdays or anniversaries. Anyone that knew her became her friend. She loved to listen and was such a
giver; always lending a helping hand. She helped brighten the lives of others in any way she could. She
made the most beautiful angel earrings to give all the sisters in recovery. Suzanne loved to bake and
send Rick out for deliveries just to put a smile on their face. She will be greatly missed, and she has
stolen of a piece of my heart.
Love, Micheline.
We would like to send a special thank you to the nurses and doctors in the ICU department at Brantford
General Hospital where she received very dedicated and compassionate care in her last few days.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, April 6, 2025 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. with eulogy starting at
2:30 p.m. Family and friends are invited to join us at Fairview United Church, 49 Wayne Drive, Brantford.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sato Save End of the Line Dog Rescue and Rehabilitation.
