Cheryl Badour
August 21 or 22 (lol), 1958 to February 27, 2025
I died on February 27th at the age of 66.
The most loving and beautiful part of my life was sharing 36 incredible years with my partner, Christina Sinding. Chris you were my home, you were everything. I tried so hard to stay with you and you tried so hard to love me through. Beautiful you, beautiful us, such a beautiful life. Go easy go gently…
I was lucky to have the love and kindness of my sisters Michele LoCicero and Kelly Badour and long-distance support from Penny Primeau. I had many other wonderful family members (but a few asshats though).
I was gifted with some great friends.
I was a Social Worker for almost 40 years, 20 of them at Hamilton Health Sciences. I helped and raised hell with injustice. It was hard, meaningful work and I probably drank too much beer. My grandmother always said you need to pay your rent to live in this world … otherwise what’s the point.
This is far from an exhaustive list, but I love so much about this life: our sweet and hilarious dog Woolf, escaping and sharing with a good book, reading and writing poetry, flying around a baseball field in my younger years then whacking a pickleball, hiking for hours, sunshine on my face and hot sand stinging my toes, red flowers, petting bumblebees, great art for my eyes, the transformative power of classic rock, the awe of fall sugar maples, refinishing furniture and antique window frames, wielding a chainsaw and axe, happy hour on the back patio with a chiminea fire, my magical bond with animals (please stop hurting and eating them).
“Doesn’t everything die at last, and too soon?
Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?”
(Mary Oliver)
With gratitude to Dr. Kumar.
A Celebration of my life will be held at Circle of Life Cremation and Burial Centre, 100 King Street East, Dundas, ON, on Sunday, March 23, 2025, visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m., spoken words at 11:30 a.m. (livestreamed on the Circle of Life website), refreshments and sharing of memories until 3 p.m. (additional parking at the Air Force Club).
