Obituary of Susan Elaine Rourke
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Susan Elaine Rourke. Born in Saint John on November 13th, 1963 to Leo and the late Audrey (Clark) Collings.
She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years Brent, sons Thomas and his wife Colleen, Isla Elaine (named after Susan) and Alden. Benjamin and his wife Kaitlin and Alice Mae. Her Father Leo Collings.
Survived also by siblings Kathie Rodger (John), Trudy Melvin (Bob), Louise McCarville (Gary), Maura Butko, James Collings, Peter Collings (Coleen) and Elizabeth Collings.
Her in-laws, Allie and Alice Rourke, Danny Rourke (Pauline), Dale Rourke (Cathy), Sherrie Rourke (Steve Lohnes), Debbie Hatt (Tim). Along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother Audrey and brother-in-law Fred.
Susan spent 34 years teaching at Hampton schools. First Middle then High school where she retired as head of the resource dept. She touched hundreds of lives with her kindness and care. She made many lifelong friendships with fellow staff members. Susan was a true caregiver.
In the summer of 1983, at a ballfield in Sus, I met a pretty blonde girl. Romance ensued for 4 years while she finished her education. In October 1987 we were married and moved into our little house in Hampton. Every day with Susan was filled with love and light. Our life together was wonderful. She loved me as much as I her, completely. Together we lived our lives as partners and best friends.
Our hearts are broken but we are left with the most wonderful memories. Her radiant smile, her loving touch will be in our hearts’ forever.
Arrangements are in the care of Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main St., Hampton, NB, with visitation on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. from Reid’s Funeral Home Chapel.
