Margaret Findlay (née Smith) January 6, 1946 – February 24, 2025 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Margaret Findlay (née Smith) on February 24, 2025, in Markham, Ontario.
Born on January 6, 1946, in Toronto, Margaret lived a life full of love, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her family. Margaret was the beloved wife of John Allan Findlay and a devoted mother to her son, Ross.
She began her career as a teacher, sharing her experience and her passion for learning with adult minds before dedicating herself fully to raising her family. She championed Special Education Support in its infancy. She was a strong supporter of charitable organizations including Diabetes Canada, Central United Church, Unionville Festival, Unionvilla and Scouts Canada. Margaret’s warmth, generosity, and wisdom touched the lives of all who knew her, and her legacy will be cherished forever.
To honour Margaret’s life, a Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Markham Bible Chapel (50 Cairns Dr, Markham, ON L3P 6G9). Meet and greet at 2:00 pm, service at 3:00 pm and sandwiches afterwards. Zoom access to the service will be provided.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Diabetes Canada, in memory of Margaret. diabetes.ca/giftsatwork
Margaret will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love.
