Obituary for
JOHN ANDREW SHERRET
January 27th, 1963 – Febuary 5th, 2025
With great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of John Andrew Sherret Edmonton, AB on Wednesday, February 5th, 2025, at the age of 62 years.
John sadly leaves the true love of his life, his wife of 35+ years of marriage (together for over 39) wife Cheryl Lynn Sherret (née Pawliuk) of Edmonton, whom he adored and cherished. Also left to mourn are his darling daughters Katelyn Mirella Sherret, and Kendra Natasha Sherret of Edmonton, that were his world, and worked hard for in life; the family kitty-cat, Patsy Cline, whom he loved to watch sports and Hallmark Movies with; his mother Annette, Rosalina Sherret (née Fantin), of Edmonton that he cared for deeply; his best friend since high school, Ronnie Poon of Calgary – the chain of friendship that was aways kept with Birthday and Christmas cards, as well texts and calls; his special and dear family friends, Ray and Marianne Marczinko of Cascade, Montana, whom he was always making NFL Football and MLB Baseball bets, either with texts or calls; lifelong friends, Terry and Laurie Harnack of Edmonton, as well Perry and Jo Harnack of Sherwood Park; father-in-law, Bill Pawliuk of Valemount, B.C.; sister-in-law, Debbie Ann Pawliuk of Edmonton; and brother-in-law, Bryan Pawliuk of St. Albert. He will be forever missed by numerous family members, friends, neighbors, and co-workers.
John was predeceased by his grandfather, Andrew Sherret of Lethbridge; grandmother, Margaret Evelyn Jones (née Sherret) (née Sandham) of Cranbook, B.C.; father Charles “Charlie” Andrew Sherret of Edmonton; brother, Gregory “Greg” Charles Sherret of Edmonton/Vancouver; mother-in-law Winnifred “Winnie” Rachel Pawliuk (née Kozak) of Valemount B.C.; family friend, George Nick Cozicar of Valemount, B.C.; numerous aunties and uncles on both sides of his family; and special cousin Lorie Lynn Farfus (née Hruby) of Lethbridge.
John was born and raised in the City of Edmonton. He was a man of hard work and dedication to his family. He worked for Alberta Oil Tool at the Sucker Rod Shop for over 30 years as an Over-Head Crane Operator and was with the company for over 35 years. Many hot summer days were spent in the manufacturing shop.
John was a well-travelled man from all those numerous family vacations to Las Vegas, Nevada; White Pigeon, Michigan; Walt Disney World in Florida; summers to Cascade, Montana; the road trips around interior B.C., U.S.A., and Western Canada in the Motorhome; Hawaii, and the infamous trip to San Francisco, California with his Volleyball team. As well, Cheryl and John’s Special 25th Wedding Anniversary Trip to Jamaica. Additionally, in his down time John loved to watch his favourite sports and teams at home on his flat screen T.V., like the Edmonton Oilers hockey team, Edmonton Football Team, Toronto Blue Jays baseball team, San Francisco 49’ers football team, NASCAR and Golf. He also enjoyed watching Hallmark Movies, because they always had the same blissful ending to them. John also loved listening 90’s country music on Edmonton’s Country Music radio station CFCW, which included Alan Jackson and George Strait; yet country music entertainer Garth Brooks was his absolute favourite. John also loved perusing Canadian Tire (Ukrainian Tire as he called it) on a weekly basis to find household items that he may or may not have needed. He loved to ponder life, sitting around the pit-fires in the backyard during the summer with a Budweiser Beer.
A Celebration of Life will be held in early summer of this year. In lieu of flowers, the family askes for donations in memory of him to either the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada or the University Hospital Foundation to the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute.
