Cyrille Bezeau Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cyrille Joseph Bezeau, age 78, of Rothesay, NB, who peacefully passed away on Saturday, January 25th, after a courageous 16-year battle with cancer. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Cyrille will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A son of the late Urbain and Blanche (Gautier) Bezeau of Miscou, NB, Cyrille moved to Saint John, NB, in 1964 as a young man and soon met Alma, the love of his life. They later moved to Rothesay and spent a full and happy life together, building homes in the community of French Village and raising four daughters of whom Cyrille was incredibly proud. His devotion to them was unmatched, and he was an unwavering source of support, guidance, and love.
A hardworking man with an infectious energy, Cyrille was never one to shy away from a challenge. Whether it was tackling home improvement projects, working in his beloved garden, or offering a helping hand to family and friends, he gave his all to everything he did. Gardening was a passion that brought him peace and contentment, and he loved sharing and learning tips and tricks with family and friends.
Cyrille was deeply committed to his Catholic faith. For over 50 years, he was an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, where he found strength and purpose throughout his life. His faith guided him in his long battle with cancer, and he faced each day with courage and a spirit of gratitude. The family would like to thank Rev. Stanislas Paulin for his guidance and counsel.
Cyrille’s quick wit, or what his grandchildren called “papa jokes” continued to the end. In fact, even at hospice, he shared laughs with the volunteers and staff. The family would also like to express its appreciation for the wonderful care provided at Bobby’s House in his final days.
Cyrille is survived by his wife Alma (Henry) Bezeau and her large and loving family; his daughters Anita Bezeau (Charles Williams) of Chester NS, Claudette Bezeau (Wayne Arsenault) of Regina SK, Angela Richard of Quispamsis NB, and Cathy (Brooklyn) Dochstader of Quispamsis NB; his grandchildren, Natalie & Lauren (Williams), Maxwell & Madeleine (Arsenault), Emily, Sarah & Ashley (Richard) and Nathan & Colin (Dochstader); his siblings Elvis Bezeau, Majella (Sonny) Robar, Urbain Bezeau, John (Margaret) Bezeau, Majelline (Bob) Bowes and Bernard Bezeau; and countless nieces and nephews; he was predeceased by his sister Priscella and brothers Andre and Elmer (Mary) Bezeau.
Arrangements are under the care of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB (506-646-2424). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 31 Gondola Point Road, Rothesay, NB on Thursday January 30, 2025 at 11:00 am with visitation at the church from 10:15 – 11:00 am. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 327 Westmorland Rd, Saint John, NB.
Donations in memory of Cyrille may be made to Bobby’s House Hospice or the charity of your choice.
