Kendall Noah Mosher
1943-2024
Kendall Noah Mosher, 81, of Canaan, Nova Scotia, passed away on
January 3, 2024, at home, surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Barbara (Myler),
and five children who will miss him dearly: Disco (Dawn), Lovey
(Teresa), Chic (Barbie), Hippy (Ken), and Newf (Darren). He will also
be missed by his daughter-in-law, Carolyn (Darren); son-in-law, Tim
(Barbie); six grandchildren he loved and who loved him dearly: Noah,
Kate, Robbie, Seth, Kasey, and Sawyer; and his sister, Sharon (Doug)
Mills. He was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Nellie Mosher.
What can we say about Dad? He was a quiet man with a strength and
kindness that everyone saw. He was a husband (sometimes a pain in the
neck), dad, daddy, Grampy, Poppy, Grandpa, and a friend to any. He
thought the world of his grandkids. He was an avid Coca-Cola
collector, and we’re pretty sure the water in his body was
replaced almost completely by Coke over the years. He loved his dogs
and cats. He loved the woods and sitting in his building having a
cigarette, a good drink, and conversation with Ray, David, and anyone
who dropped by.
He did many things to care for his family, from driving Christmas
trees and other products to the States to running his own building
supply business and being a self-employed carpenter. Mostly, Dad loved
being a carpenter. He built the house we all grew up in and helped
many others build or work on theirs (including his
children’s).
He was full of stories right to the end – so many that we’ll
never remember and many more we’ll never hear. He taught us
compassion, to help others when needed, and was always ready with his
guidance and support. Dad battled cancer for five years, and he was
always quick to say how wonderful and respectful everyone treated him.
Many people helped take care of him through this time that we would
like to thank, including Dr. Daniel French, Dr. Arik Drucker, and Dr.
Jill Robertson. Also, thank you to Palliative Care, especially Dr.
Michael Gibson, Melanie, and the VON nurses who cared for him at the
end. Thank you to the nurses at South Shore Regional who helped care
for him over the Christmas holiday. Thank you to Carole Webber and
Lynn Key of Heart to Heart Home Care, who made sure Dad was
comfortable in his final days.
Dad did not want a funeral service; that would have been too much
attention for him (although we think he secretly loved it). Instead,
we will have a Celebration of Life for family and close friends in the
coming months. We ask that you honor him by donating to the Canadian
Cancer Society and South Shore Health Palliative Care Services.
Dad treated everyone with respect and only wanted the same in return.
His only request for us kids was to take care of Mom and we promise to
do just that. We know that somewhere, he is off building something
awesome, walking Candy and Jesse, or having a drink in his building
with Mike and Ernie. And we know he is at peace.
