Obituary of Michael Wayne Bomberry
MICHAEL WAYNE BOMBERRY
August 10, 1956 – July 4, 2023
It is with profound sadness and an unbearable sense of loss that we announce the sudden death of our beloved Mike in his 67th year. Mike belonged to two exceptionally large families. The Bomberry family and the Bell family who are all devastated at his passing.
Mike is survived by his wife Jay (Bell) of 41 years, his beloved daughters Megan (Seamus) and Emma (Justin) and his cherished grandsons Sam and Freddie. It is with heart breaking sadness that Mike passed just days before the imminent birth of his granddaughter Elle. He was so looking forward to meeting her for the first time but sadly that did not happen. We know he will be her angel watching over her.
Mike was pre-deceased by his father, Arnold and Mother, Hilda. Mike was the fourth youngest of twelve children. Arnold (Sonny) (Vivien), Joan (Ambrose), Richard (deceased), David (deceased), Roger (Rita), Lois (Barsie) (deceased), Donna (Ted), Debbie (Mike), Janice (Tina), Tim (deceased), and Harvey. He loved all his siblings and their families very much and was always so grateful for growing up in such a large, loving family.
Mike was born in Hagersville, Ontario and at the age of six months his family moved to Fort Erie, Ontario. He moved to Toronto to attend school and shortly after started his career. Upon retirement Mike and Jay moved to the Kingston area to be close to their daughters and grandchildren.
Jay and Mike were best friends, and their marriage was a true partnership. Mike was a wonderful husband who adored Jay, whom he supported through recent health challenges. He was loving and encouraging and made that time in their lives the best it could ever be. Mike loved his girls so much and was extremely proud of them and their accomplishments. He loved the men dearly who they chose to be their partners for life.
Mike was immensely proud of his 35-year career with Bell Canada and his 10 years with Manulife. He was proud of his professional accomplishments that saw him elevated from a data technician to Senior leadership positions in the Enterprise business market. He got great satisfaction from being part of the delivery of the inaugural Data services that evolved throughout his career, which we all depend on today. Mike had a unique ability to forge some of the most difficult and lasting client relationships in the Finance, Insurance, and Government sectors. He was respected by all who worked with him.
Mike was an intelligent, kind, thoughtful, and decent man, who did everything right! His dedication to family, friends and his life’s work was unsurpassed. The only thing that really changed his demeanor was slow play on the golf course. Then he was not so polite!
Mike passed doing what he loved on a beautiful sunny day on the 18th hole, trying to shoot a fabulous round in the 70’s. He passed an incredibly happy and content man.
There is a void in our lives that will never be filled.
A gathering is planned to honour Mike on Monday July 17, 2023.
Angus Glen Golf Course, 10080 Kennedy Rd, Markham, Ontario from 1:00-3:00pm.
Acknowledgements at 2:00pm.
