Obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce that Mike passed away suddenly at home on February 13, at the age of 69, after a short battle with cancer.
Born in Edmonton and raised on the farm in New Sarepta, Alberta, Mike and Barb, his wife of 37 years, raised their kids in Millet before retiring to Enderby, BC in 2019.
Mike was an exceptionally patient, kind, and gentle man. He lived every aspect of his life according to principle and with the utmost integrity. Whether during his 40 + year career as a NACE-certified inspector, as a neighbour, friend, or stranger on the street, Mike’s friendly, non-judgemental and positive disposition was undeniable.
Mike was reserved and quiet but with a sharp wit and memorable sense of humour. He always saw the lighter side of life and spending time with him meant lots of jokes, nicknames and tons of good-hearted teasing; he could take it as well as he gave it!
He was a devoted husband and father, and his family adored him. Some of our favourite moments were around the dinner table where Mike was always the happiest, eating, discussing and laughing together.
Music was a big part of life and you could always track Mike down in the house or yard by following his whistling or humming. You could often find him puttering or fixing something; he always had a project! He never shied away from a problem and truly could fix anything.
Mike thrived on sharing trivia and interesting facts whenever he could and conversations with him were never dull. He was a real walking encyclopedia! As much as he was a joker, he enjoyed discussing deep and philosophical matters, too.
Mike is lovingly remembered and sorely missed by his wife Barb, daughter Brianne (Donny), son Tristan, his sisters Lynn, Sandy (Gene), and Donna (Brad), brother Randy (Laura) and their families.
He was predeceased by his nephew David, brother-in- law Ian, Mom Martha, and Dad Henry.
A private family ceremony will take place following cremation, at a later date.
