It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of David George Holland on Friday, February 17, 2023, at his residence.
Born September 26, 1949, in Sydney, he was the son of the late Dunbar and Phyllis (Karn) Holland.
David was a lineman with Nova Scotia Power until his retirement. He was an upstanding member of the Archery Community and a member of the Cape Breton Bowmen, BANS and TAANS.
Music was a large part of David’s life.
David was a man of great strength and character. He lived his life with deep passion and convictions, honesty and integrity and a willingness to help others. David will be remembered for his sense of humor, singing and storytelling.
David is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn (Callaghan); son, Mark (Jenn); cousin, Beth (Allan) LaRocque and their sons, Chris and Kevin (Julie); brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Janet Wylde and their sons, Jonathan (Mary) and Greg (Alisha); and niece, Erin (Callaghan) Suazo (Michael).
He was predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Jean Callaghan and his brother-in-law, Gary Callaghan.
Cremation has taken place under the care of Sydney Memorial Chapel. As per David’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to charity of choice.
