It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of Nelson Lorne Hillier. Nelson was born in St. Anthony on April 15, 1960 to Calvin and Jessie Hillier and at the age of 17 he joined the Armed Forces. After leaving the forces he worked at various locations across Canada before retiring and moving back to Blaketown, Nl.
Nelson passed away on April 21, 2024 at the Carbonear General Hospital at the age of 64, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He met Ann ( Piercey) during one of his visits back to Nfld and they were married on November 16, 2010.
Nelson was a man who was content with his life and no matter what the circumstances he always had a smile and made you laugh. He loved berry picking, fishing and going for a ride and watching the ocean.
He leaves to mourn his loving wife Ann Hillier (nee Piercey); brothers, Bruce, Alec and Wade ; sisters, Beryl, Gladys, Judy, Cavell, Brenda, Belinda and Gail as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Predeceased by his parents, Calvin and Jessie Hillier, baby sister Alma; mother-in-law, Marie Piercey; father-in-law, Alfred Piercey; sisters-in-law, Jean Hillier and Tina Higdon ; brother-in-law, Roy King and niece, Colleen Simms.
Our comfort is in knowing he is in God’s arms now and he will be forever missed and loved.
