Robert Penney Obituary
Passed suddenly away at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre on Friday, April 26, 2024, Robert (Bob) Ivan Penney, age 81, of Botwood, originally from Bloomfield, Bonavista Bay.
Predeceased by his parents, Edward and Delilah Penney, sisters, Myrtice Martin, Anita Chaffey (Delman, deceased) and Louise Coles; brothers, Milton, Hedley (Verlie, deceased), and Marvin, as well as parent-is-law, Edgar and Louise Boone, sister-in-law Joyce Boone, and brother-in-law, Neil Boone.
Bob is survived by his wife, Winnie (Boone), daughters Daphne (Gordon) Spurrell and Ruby (Rick, deceased) Keats, cherished grandchildren, Penny Chatman (Neil Bailey), Nichole Russell, Eugene (Tiffany) Spurrell and Kristen Keats (Jacob Collins) as well as his adored great-grandchildren, Lincoln Russell, Jacob Chatman, Riley Spurrell and Noelle Spurrell. Also, mourning his passing is his one surviving sibling, Joyce (Walter) Day, step-son, Terry Boone and step granddaughter Terri Boone (Kyle Wouters), sisters and brothers-in-laws Freeman, Stella, Mary, Austin, Annie and Una, as well as a large circle of nieces and nephews, other family members and a large circle of lifelong friends.
Bob was employed for a number of years with Abitibi-Price as a wood cutter, machine operator and truck driver. In his spare time, he loved hunting, fishing, snaring rabbits, berry picking, cutting wood and later in retirement, vegetable gardening and creating wood-working projects.
As per Bob’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. A graveside service will take place at a later date.
As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army Cottrell’s Cove Cemetery Fund (c/o Salvation Army Botwood Citadel) will be gratefully accepted in his memory.
