It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William “Bill” Butler. Date of birth February 9, 1938. Date of death May 13, 2024.
Bill Butler, professional plumber and business entrepreneur, was a husband, grandfather, father, brother, uncle, and friend. Best known as a true gentleman whose entire life was his unwavering love of his family and making sure that there was always dinner on the table and a cup of tea for Agnes. After retirement he spent countless hours travelling to see Blair, Rachel, Philip, Danielle, and his cherished grandchildren. When not travelling, he was at home waiting for the next photo or FaceTime opportunity and catching up on the latest hockey news. Bill passed away peacefully surrounded by family at his home in Bay Roberts on May 13, 2024 after a very short battle with cancer. He was 86 years old.
Bill was born in Butlerville and spent his adult life in Bay Roberts, a town he absolutely loved.
Bill is predeceased by:
– Parents Edward and Sarah (Parsons)
– Brothers Michael and Edward
– Sisters Mary and Suzie
– Parents-in-law William and Elizabeth (Mercer) Whalen
He leaves to mourn:
– Loving wife Agnes (Whalen) of 58 years
– Son Blair (Rachel) and grandchildren Ryan, Fay, and Michael
– Son Philip (Danielle) and grandchildren Elliott and Jack
– Sisters Jane and Betty
– In-laws of the Butler and Whalen families that were all like brothers and sisters to him
– Countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone for their love and support. A special thank you to Dr. Robert Humber, a family friend and professional who was always available when needed. To Bill and Francis Whalen for assisting us with funeral arrangement. Finally, enough gratitude cannot be expressed to neighbours Frank and Christine Deering for reasons that go beyond words.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place at Slade’s Funeral Home, Bay Roberts for immediate family. Inurnment will follow this celebration at St. John the Evangelist Cemetery, Coley’s Point.
