Obituary
The family is saddened to announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, Shirley Ruth Stockton of Moose Jaw, SK on October 15, 2023. She was born March 16, 1928, in Forward Sk. Shirley married her sweetheart Don on July 19, 1946, and they recently celebrated their 77th wedding anniversary.
She is survived by her husband Don; children: Donna (Paul), Phyllis (Eric), Dwight, Lorna, Sheila (Pat), and Joe (Sheila), 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. As well as the numerous extended family members, cousins, nieces and nephews. Shirley is predeceased by her parents Winnifred and Howard Harris, as well as her 2 brothers Ted (Trish) and Don (Helen).
Shirley was a do-er. She volunteered to help others through church, school, and community. She was a proud member of Girl Guides of Canada for 70 years. Being a teacher, she also loved to read and shared that love with her family. Reading on Gramma’s lap was a cherished rite of childhood for all her grandchildren. She loved to cook and bake for her family and her large dinner table was always full with family and friends whenever there was an occasion.
At Shirley’s request there will be no formal service. Shirley’s family will gather to celebrate her life at a later date.
In living memory of Shirley, a memorial planting will be made by W.J. Jones & Son Ltd.
